Behavioral Pediatrics Feeding Assessment Scale (BPFAS)

The Behavioral Pediatrics Feeding Assessment Scale (BPFAS) is a questionnaire a parent fills out about what mealtimes actually look like at home — not what a child eats in a clinic, but whether they refuse foods, leave the table, gag, take an hour to finish, or eat only a narrow set of textures.

Thirty-five items split into two parts. The first 25 ask about the child's behaviors; the last 10 ask about the parent's own feelings and strategies, with items like getting frustrated at feeding time or coaxing a child to take a bite. Each item is rated on frequency from never to always, and then a separate yes/no asks whether the parent considers it a problem. That second question is what separates a behavior that happens from one that is causing trouble.
