Pediatric Activity Card Sort (PACS)

The Pediatric Activity Card Sort asks a child what they actually do. Photographs of children doing ordinary childhood things are sorted by the child themselves, which makes the conversation concrete in a way an interview rarely manages with a nine-year-old.

Cards fall into four areas: personal care, school and productivity, hobbies and social activities, and sports. Blank cards let a child add anything the deck misses. Working through them produces a picture of the child's occupational repertoire — what they are doing now, and what they want to do, need to do, or are expected to do but are not. That gap is what the therapist works with.
