Perceive, Recall, Plan, and Perform System (PRPP)
What It Measures
The PRPP watches someone do a task they actually need to do, and works out where cognition is breaking the performance down. Not whether the person can pass a memory test, but why the tea never got made.
Two stages. Stage One establishes mastery: the task is broken into its steps and each is scored for errors of accuracy, omission, repetition, and timing, giving a percentage of steps performed correctly. Stage Two explains why. Thirty-four cognitive strategy behaviours are scored across four quadrants — Perceive (attention and perception), Recall (memory and learning), Plan (planning, judgement, decision-making), and Perform (acting on the plan and following through).
Additional Notes
Licensing Notes: The PRPP Assessment is available only through their training course — the manual is supplied to course participants, not sold separately, and reliability is established following training.
Learn More: Two things distinguish the PRPP from other cognitive assessments. It is criterion-referenced and task-embedded: the task is one the person needs or wants to do, chosen with them, so there is no fixed item set and no comparison against a normative sample.
