Grace Cho Darmahkasih

Grace learned about OT at an internship at a day program for adults with IDD. She earned her BS in Psychology, and MA & Doctorate of Occupational Therapy at the University of Southern California. During her graduate studies, she did one of her level two fieldwork at Central Wisconsin Center, one of the last standing home institutions for those with IDD. She was a research assistant on the lifestyle redesign for chronic conditions team and completed her doctorate in primary care at Kaiser Inglewood building a program and working using lifestyle redesign and motivational interviewing interventions with patients who had A1c levels between 6.0-7.0 (prediabetic to diagnosed diabetes). Grace then moved from Los Angeles to Seattle as a lifestyle medicine program opened a position for her in primary care but returned home during the beginning times of the COVID-19 epidemic. She then worked part time in schools and sub acute/skilled nursing facilities and then came full circle to work with people with IDD full time. Her current work is in early intervention in the greater Los Angeles area, with a growing interest in neurology, development, feeding, NICCU care, and reflex integration.
